About Andrew Oxley
I studied the flute at Royal College of Music from 1975 to 1978 gaining my performer's ARCM. I then worked as a freelance flautist with various orchestras and also on film session recordings over a number of years. I have taught privately and also given a number of master classes.
Whilst I was at the RCM I started repairing flutes, built my first flute and re-tuned various instruments. I also started manufacturing my own headjoints, which are my real speciality and passion.
To date I have made 52 concert flutes manufactured in silver & gold and over 1500 head joints in all sorts of different materials including one made from a brass tube taken from the wreck of a sunken armed ship, torpedoed in 1918!
