Museum Exhibitions
The museum is split over two floors in the Market House and comprises the following collections and exhibitions.
Fossils A collection of local fossils including ammonites. Details of the discovery of an ichthyosaurus at Alford.
Local History Resources Archive material and family history records which can be accessed with the help of stewards by prior appointment.
Rope Making in Castle Cary Displays of the work of rope and hemp which was a main industry in Castle Cary. |
Interactive Touch Screen An interactive touch screen for children with details of some of the interesting finds on display.
Industrial and Agricultural History Large collection of agricultural implements, tools and relics.
Parson Woodforde Room A room dedicated to the diarist Parson Woodforde (1740 - 1803) whose writings give a vivid account of the life of a rural cleric in the 18th century. Woodforde's father was vicar at Ansford and he was a curate to the Parish himself before moving to Norfolk. |
