Overseas Missions

The Parish of All Saints' Church Castle Cary supports the following organisations overseas:-

CMS - Church Mission Society
Founded in 1799 as an evangelical missionary organisation, the Church Missionary Society has been a pioneering mission throughout the world.  It has attracted over 9000 men and women to serve in the 200 years since foundation.   Now renamed as the Church Mission Society, there are today 190 mission partners in 38 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.  CMS has sister organisations in the USA,, Australia and New Zealand.   
Our CMS Mission partner since 2007 is Micheal Green. He is a disability nurse working in the northern town of Salt in Jordon.   He is based at the Palestine Hospital there and travels to surrounding small towns and villages. At present Jordan has large numbers of Palestinian refugee camps, and also many refugees from Iraq and other countries.

Bible Society - Fighting "Bible Poverty".
Bible Society began in 1804 as the British and Foreign Bible Society. Today the vision of making the Bible heard around around the world continues.  A network of over 140 national Bible Societies together with supporters and churches seeks to share the challenge of  'Bible Poverty'.

We mark Bible Sunday annually with a special Service.

BibleLands - Work in the Holy Lands
BibleLands is a non-governmental, non-denominational, Christian charity working in partnership with Christian-lead Projects in the lands of the Bible.   These projects involve 'tending ,treating and teaching the young, sick and needy', seeking 'to bring the peaceful things of God to those in most need - regardless of the faith or nationality'.  The charity is currently running a Lebanon Appeal following the recent destruction in the country.

    Toybox - Let the street children live!
    Registered in 1992, Toybox is a Christian charity committed to 'providing hope for the most disadvantaged children, young people and their families, principally in Latin America'.  Toybox works 'with indigenous organisations supporting frontline work with street children and their comminities, being a facilitator and advocate for their work'.

    Mission to Seafarers - Worldwide support to seafarers.
    The Mission to Seafarers is a charity and part of the Anglican Church.  It offers support worldwide to seafarers who face lonliness, danger and separation from loved ones among other problems. There is a network of chaplains, staff and volunteers in 300 ports worldwide, visiting on the ships and offering whatever help may be needed, whether practical or spiritual, regardless of nationality or faith.   In over 100 ports there are centres where seafarers can 'relax, get local information, find help, share worship and telphone or e-mail home'
